Groundswell for Water Justice organized a Civil Rights and Water Justice Legislative Briefing featuring iconic civil rights champions Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association, and Marc Morial, National President of the Urban League. CA Senator Steve Bradford, Vice Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus; CA Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes, Chair of the Legislative Latino Caucus, Assemblymembers Chris Holden and Rebecca Beth Bauer-Kahan joined over 100 social justice activists to call on policy leaders to act immediately to strengthen the state’s water infrastructure. Groundswell raises up the voices of the nearly 1 million Californians that do not have access to clean, affordable water – the majority of whom reside in communities of color!
